In my kitchen is a play for children and families. The setting is a big table where the audience (max. 30 people) gathers. It lasts one hour, the time we need to cook and serve lunch during the show.

The kitchen is the Ariette one. there are burners, pots, dishes, cutlery; there are eggs, flour, potatoes, apples and a small mill to ground the flour.

And there is the story we tell around the table, speaking of the desire for knowledge and discovery, the feeling for sharing and empathy, friendship and curiosity, joy and sorrow.

It is the story of a farmer mouse that leave family home and his village to search for the Field of Wonder, a magic land where wheat, grass, vegetables and fruits grow up on their own, without ploughing, hoeing or seeding..... an dthe kitchen becomes a theatre, a place of relationships and sharing of food, emotions and feelings.

In my kitchen
is a "table-show", where we eat, tell stories and cook, as in a family.

DIRECTOR'S NOTES

Our kitchen creates small temporary communities around a table.

In our kitchen there is a big table, 7x2 metres long to host 30 people and 5 other working tables. There are burners, pots, dishes, cutlery, flour, eggs and a small mill to ground the flour.
And there are also stories of lives, memories, dreams, stories of men and women, animals and plants.

This is the spirit of our work: the kitchen as a sensitive place, the cradle of our intimate relationships, a connection between different generations, languages, origins and cultures.
A micro-society gathering to share the food given by the planet and transformed through our work.
Sharing food and its preparation, we share life and stories slip into the dishes.

We are three people in our kitchen, maybe three clowns: the White, the Augustus and the Assistant. Our kitchen has been travelling for a long time to meet people from every country, language, age, religion and culture.
We've been listening and telling stories for so long.

In our kitchen stories are told
One day, a friend of us gave us a story: the one of a farmer mouse that wanted to know the Field of Wonder, a magic land where wheat, grass, vegetables and fruits grow up on their own, without ploughing, hoeing or seeding....The mouse leaves in search of the Field, leaving his family and his village where nobody understand him and all think he's mad.
The journey is long and difficult. He meets a lot of people and gets to know new worlds, experiences and feelings.
Reaching the Field of Wonder is very hard!
He will get there only leaving something of his earthly life...
We speak of the desire for knowledge, discovery, sharing, empathy, friendship, curiosity, joy and sorrow.

This is the story we tell around a table using everyday kitchen tools. The characters merge with food, the rhythm of the story blends with the rhythm of the meal.
The play, by experiencing food aims to be a discovery of the origins of things, of feelings and human relationships.
A journey through the mystery of our lives in our theatre-kitchen
